Ethiopia's Emperor Haile Selassie visited Jamaica, and was welcomed by over 100,000 Rastafarians on April 21, 1966. They played drums and smoked weed.

Rastafarians worship Selassie as their Messiah and God because of Marcus Garvey's prophecy that a Black King crowned in Africa will be the Redeemer.
